International Conference
November 12- 15, 2017

The theme is rooted in 1 Peter 2:4-12. In these verses, Peter addresses Jewish believers who are now scattered around the Roman empire as “sojourners and exiles.” They certainly felt peculiar in the culture of Roman cities. Peter points out to them that God has a purpose for the peculiarly different people who choose to live for His Kingdom among the kingdoms of the world.
SO WHAT DO PECULIAR PEOPLE LOOK LIKE?
We need to live more than just average Christian lives. Our thoughts, words, and actions should overflow with His purposes so that we may declare the praises of him who called us. We might describe ourselves as “Peculiar with a Purpose.”

WHY DO WE EMPHASIZE MISSIONS ANYWAY?
It’s simple. Jesus told us to “Go and make disciples…” By the power and authority of His Spirit, He sends us on mission to the world—to Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria and the ends of the earth. So we go!
If we’re serious about the Great Commission, we need to live very different lives. We may need to do risky things, sacrificial things, odd things. We may even need to be a bit odd ourselves. You might even say “peculiar.”
